Prince William makes a painful sacrifice for Kate Middleton

Prince William makes changes to royal role amid Kate Middleton’s health problems

Prince William, who holds the title of Prince of Wales, bends the rules for many reasons, one of which is his cancer-stricken wife, Kate Middleton.

The Prince of Wales and heir to the throne has taken a different approach from his father King Charles to dealing with the Welsh people since he and Princess Kate took their titles.

Now, the couple are set to make a major addition to their team, according to former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are looking to hire a Welsh-speaking private secretary, who will be based at Kensington Palace to help with affairs.

“William is a Prince of Wales with a difference,” Bond told OK! Magazine. “No pomp, no ceremony, no pomp – he clearly wants to engage directly with the community and with the help of a Welsh speaker when needed.”

He explained that Charles made an equal or “greater effort” to engage with the Welsh people by going to university there and learning Welsh.

“William obviously feels that grappling with the notoriously difficult Welsh language is a challenge he doesn’t have time for in his busy life,” Bond said.

She also added that William “does things his own way by trying to be part of the community and staying in B&Bs when they go there, renting properties they own rather than letting them sit empty most of the time.”

However, before Princess Kate dealt with her cancer diagnosis, visiting Wales was “on a regular basis”, which is a major change that came afterwards.

William made a painful shift in his role in an effort to support his wife and also look after their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.
